The 40-mm caliber barrel grenade launcher AG-40D is designed for mounting on AKM and AK-74 Kalashnikov rifles and M-4 and M-16 automatic rifles of the Stoner system. It is used to destroy the enemy's openly deployed manpower and lightly armored equipment.

The grenade launcher is equipped with a mechanical target device, which allows the target to produce a maximum of 450 meters. On the grenade launcher the shots of various modifications and purposes of NATO standard 40 × 46 mm caliber are used.
